A thing of beauty...

Who knew that 1/2 a wine barrel could make a person so happy... without the wine no less!
I fell in love with this the first time it caught my eye. Still deciding what to plant in it. Any suggestions?

Rachel's award...

Last year we were invited to the school to watch Rachel receive an award from her 3rd grade teacher. Alex and I sat with anticipation wondering what kind of recognition our daughter was soon to receive. Then it was announced... Rachel Roylance... "most improved behavior". We looked at each other and said, "is that an award?!" Seeing the smile on Rachel's face let us know that yes, it is indeed, an award. Not to mention, one that she worked hard for!
.
Another invitation came last week. This year was bound to be different. As I waited in the auditorium, camera in hand, I found myself getting a little nervous. And then the announcement came. This award goes to...Rachel Roylance... for "improving work ethic". Yep, that is an award. She was thrilled. And so were we.

The man I love...

As I was going through our pictures yesterday, trying to find a decent picture of Alex, I came to the realization that it may be a near impossible task. He is completely uncooperative in picture taking matters. If you ask him to 'say cheese' or 'smile', this is what you will get...

Help...he really is a nice guy...most of the time :)

Sunday play time...

Church before church?
Maybe three hours just isn't enough...
No one is turned away here...even if they did forget to wear their pants.

I'm alive again...

I haven't posted in awhile. I took a brief hiatus from the blogging world. I turned to a new love. Facebook. Everyday I promised myself that I would only log on once. It didn't happen. I was strangely drawn to the frequent updates of family and friends. Reconnecting with the old and new in my life has been fun, interesting, and has caused more introspection than I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up facebook anytime soon.

Every Fall marks the beginning of a season with no yard sales, no Saturday morning high, no treasure hunt... Each winter a little piece of me begins to die. Thank goodness for the onset of Spring! Craig's List and KSL.com yard sale postings slowly begin to appear. And so it begins... I'm alive again!!

Yesterday, I, Heather, and Sachiko (two friends that understand the magnetic forces of a good deal) went to several yard sales. We traveled far, weathered the bitter cold, picked through boxes until our fingers were frozen, and left no rock unturned. We celebrated our finds! I love my $1 pictures, $2 brand new pair of shoes, $1 skirt, $5 area rug and .50 jeans and shirts for the girls. Thanks for inviting me! It feels good to be alive :)

Just a thought...

I love reading Dr. Seuss books with my kids.
We recently came across this nugget of wisdom...
.
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who don't mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
-Dr. Seuss
